you mean we have to do work?
Allow me to give you some background. The first week of class we talked. We had a discussion of archetypes. The second week we watched The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Then we read a book. Then we watched The Thirteenth Warrior. Then the second LOTR movie came out. Then we watched The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Then we hung out and did busy work and drawings.
Keep in mind, this is senior AP English IV.
For the past few days I have been reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontė. It has been really good except I can’t understand what it is saying, so I read the SparkNotes. They are good. I have been taking daily reading quizzes over what we have read. Today’s wasn’t too bad. Then, our teacher asked the unspeakable—I had to do a timed writing!
The entire class let out a groan of utter disbelief. How could she do this to us? A timed writing?
Last year in AP English III, no less than three timed writings were assigned per week.
She passed out the papers and gave us a good forty minutes to finish. I managed to scribble a page (my lack of teeth still hurt, and I was really out of it) and turn it in. Woo for me.
English is too tough. I mean, I’m a Senior, what do I need timed writings for?
Moral: My English class is a total let down.
